The Round Table of the Industry
The German Dairy Association (Verband der Deutschen Milchwirtschaft, VDM) is the German National Committee of the International Dairy Federation (IDF). In consultation with its members and in close cooperation with the German Federal Government and the representatives of the Federal States (“Laender”), VDM represents the interests of the entire dairy industry at IDF. The Association is largely supported and funded by the Federal States.
At the round table of the German Dairy Association the member associations, representatives of the Federal Government, the Laender and scientists discuss the future direction of national and international concerns referring to food, technology and environmental law and matters relating to standardization and harmonization. On the basis of its well-balanced and neutral structure, the German Dairy Association primarily acts as a consultant and advisor to the German Federal Government. This important central function has been fulfilled by the umbrella organization since that time through the following activities:
- Comprehensive advisory service with regard to all relevant dairy topics on a national as well as an international level
- Representation of interests in the legislative process at the ministries, parliamentary bodies, committees and working groups of national and international, technically oriented associations and organizations
- Organization of seminars, workshops and conferences on actual developments and trends
